Kickstarter Watch: The ZUtA Portable PrinterPrinting technology has advanced considerably in recent years, most notably in the relatively young field of 3D printing. And the next innovation may be the "pocket printer", a small, mobile printer that prints as it moves itself across the surface of the page. The printer literally fits in your pocket, features a rechargeable battery, and plugs directly into smartphones and PCs. At the moment, the implemented ink cartridge has a projected page yield of over 1,000 pages at 1.2 pages per minute and the battery lasts for over one hour on a full charge. The first version of the printer will print in grayscale, while color is planned to arrive soon after.
The "pocket printer" or Mini-Mobile-Robotic Printer is being designed by a company called ZUtA Labs Ltd. who have turned to noted crowdsourcing website Kickstarter to try and fund their development of the printer. If you are as excited as we are about this incredible invention, consider contributing to their Kickstarter today. < Click Hear >
Kickstarter is a website where individuals and organizations can essentially pitch an idea for a product or a service and, if enough people pledge financial support within a 30 day period, the product is developed and manufactured with the pledge money. There are different levels of pledge available, ranging from $5 to $10,000, with each level providing unique benefits to those that pledge. The key to Kickstarter is that if the funding goal set by the project's founder isn't met within 30 days, none of the pledges are charged; your card is only charged if the Kickstarter campaign is successful.
