Resetting Remanufactured Cartridges

When using a new remanufactured cartridge can confuse your printer. The printer will give you a message that it does not recognize the cartridge. There are several reasons why this type of message can occur, the best way to fix this problem is by "tricking" your printer into accepting the cartridge.

Here is how it works:

1. The contacts could be dirty. Lightly soak a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and gently wipe the copper contacts.

You also need to clean the contact on your printer.

2. Replace & leave the cartridge in the printer.

3. Turn off your printer.

4. Unplug the printer cable (or USB cable) from the back of the printer.

5. Shut down your entire system for about 5 minutes.

6. Reboot your computer and re-plug the USB cable into the printer.

7. When the message comes up asking if the cartridge has been replaced, select yes.

8. Try a test print page to see if the message has been removed.

>>> Note
* This might have to be tried 2 or 3 times before it will work
* If a contact is damaged, in any way, then the cartridge cannot be read by the printer.
