Don't be afraid to use your consumer rights and show this statement to any service person or OEM representative who threatens your right to choose your own supply sources.

Using the wrong ink can cause problems. The consistency of ink varies, if you use an ink that is too thin it may leak out of the cartridge and damage your printer. It depends upon the condition of the cartridge. You can usually refill up to eight or ten times before the cartridge wears out and must be replaced.
Can all cartridges be refilled?
HP, Lexmark, Canon, and Dell (most styles) are great cartridges to refill. But not all cartridges can be refilled successfully. Epson has made their printers to where you need a chip in the cartridge so they can be read by the printer. This makes it more difficult for companies to make the compatible cartridge because then, they will not be read. This chip can not be reset when you are refilling them.
